We are seeking donations to build an endowment to make the Klaus Moje Fellowship become a reality. Your donation will allow us to fund two annual residencies in his honour; one for an Australian artist to work overseas, and the second for an international artists to take up a joint residency at the Canberra Glassworks and the Australian National University Canberra School of Art Glass workshop.

Klaus’ life and work encompassed the breadth of international glass experience, from the early experimental years in Hamburg, through the exciting first contact with the United States particularly through Pilchuck and Bullseye, the formative exhibition years led by galleries such as Heller and Habatat, the seminal influence on kiln forming and establishment of the Glass Workshop at the Australian National University School of Art, and his ongoing and enthusiastic support for the ever growing community of artists, curators and collectors who shared his love for the material he felt had chosen him.

Klaus’ contribution had been formally acknowledged through national and international awards, including Honorary Officer in the Order of Australia; Australian Creative Fellowship Award, Urban Glass Award for Innovation; Lifetime Achievement Award, Glass Art Society; and Lifetime Achievement Award, Urban Glass. He has been featured in over 40 solo exhibitions and has been included in over 60 public collections.

The Klaus Moje Fellowship is an initiative of the Canberra Glassworks, the Australian National University and Ausglass and will be managed jointly by them. It is designed to reflect Klaus passion for learning and collaboration. Throughout his teaching career Klaus championed the essential value of exchange on a national and international level, believing that this offered the best opportunity for artists to expand their own creativity as well as inspire others.
