Residencies

The artist-in-residence program provides experienced as well as emerging artists with a place and time for research and development, creating a new body of work, developing a particular idea or continuing along a theme. The program encourages mentorship and focuses on specific outcomes to help develop the creative culture that drives the Canberra Glassworks.The program works in conjunction with the exhibition and education programs to provide extended opportunities to participants and benefits to Glassworks’ visitors.

Canberra Glassworks offers a variety of residencies for both emerging and established artists.

 

Artist In Residence

This residency is for artists who have achieved significant recognition for their technical and artistic work.

 

Thomas Foundation Artists in Residence

These residencies are an initiative of David and Barbara Thomas to work with Canberra Glassworks to support emerging and mid career Australian glass artists.

 

Graduates in Residence

Created with support from UniSA, ANU, SCA and Monash University, to give a significant opportunity to an outstanding recent graduate from their respective glass programs.

 

Emerging Artist Support Scheme

Canberra Glassworks is a patron of the Emerging Artist Support Scheme which encourages emerging artists/graduates from the ANU School of Art to begin to establish an independent art practice.

  • It's our lucky 7th Birthday!

    It's our lucky 7th Birthday!

    Saturday, 10 May from 10am.... We invite you to come in and sign our birthday balloon! The program will be full of action between 10am to 4pm, starting with a traditional Smoking Ceremony, a creative challenge in the Hotshop and Flameworking areas plus tours and demonstrations. We are also participating in the Canberra International Music Festival Kingston Foreshore event from 1.30 to 5pm in Norgrove Park on the day. For more information call 02 6260 7005.

    Our school program aims to engage with young people through glass, an important material in our everyday life and a medium of endless possibilities for artistic use. We offer a range of tours and classes for children from 4-18 years.
