The artist-in-residence program provides experienced as well as emerging artists with a place and time for research and development, creating a new body of work, developing a particular idea or continuing along a theme. The program encourages mentorship and focuses on specific outcomes to help develop the creative culture that drives the Canberra Glassworks. The program works in conjunction with the exhibition and education programs to provide extended opportunities to participants and benefits to Glassworks’ visitors.
Canberra Glassworks offers a variety of residencies for both emerging and established artists.
This residency is for artists who have achieved significant recognition for their technical and artistic work.
These residencies are an initiative of David and Barbara Thomas to work with Canberra Glassworks to support emerging and mid career Australian glass artists.
Created with support from UniSA, ANU, SCA and Monash University, to give a significant opportunity to an outstanding recent graduate from their respective glass programs.
Canberra Glassworks is a patron of the Emerging Artist Support Scheme which encourages emerging artists/graduates from the ANU School of Art to begin to establish an independent art practice.
A joint endeavour between Ausglass and Canberra Glassworks, this residency supports an established glass artist who has been practicing in the field of glass for more than five years.
